Synchronous Courses

Synchronous courses take place during a specified date range with required activities due each week.  Webinar conferences, which occur in real-time, may also be included. This means you'll need to log in on a specific day and time each week.  We deliver live online webinars either through Canvas’ integrated Conference tool or Zoom. You'll be able to see and hear your instructor and all of your classmates, and they will be able to see and hear from you.  You can log in from anywhere you have a secure high-speed Internet connection and a compatible computer or mobile device.  

Blended Courses

According to the iNACOL Blended Learning Teacher Competency Framework, blended learning is a formal education program in which a student learns: at least in part through online learning, with some element of student control over time, place, path, and/or pace; at least in part in a supervised brick-and-mortar location away from home; and the modalities along each student’s learning path within a course to provide an integrated learning experience. (Horn and Staker, 2013)

At Region 11, blended courses occur in part through real-time, face-to-face sessions, and in part through Canvas, an online learning management system. This means you'll need to attend face-to-face sessions at the ESC Region 11 location as well as log in to your Canvas account. You can log in from anywhere you have a secure high-speed Internet connection and a compatible computer or mobile device.

Asynchronous Courses

Asynchronous courses have no, or very few, live online meetings and discussions.  You will access course material online in Canvas, a learning management system, and complete coursework at your own pace within set deadlines.
